Valentín Barco has signed a seven-year deal with Chelsea after a stellar season in France. The 22‑year‑old Argentine, who can play at left‑back or in midfield, will join the squad later this preseason.

Barco’s journey began at River Plate, followed by brief spells with Brighton & Hove Albion and Sevilla. He then moved to Strasbourg on loan, making 58 appearances and netting three goals with eleven assists before securing the move to England for a permanent transfer.

During the World Cup, Barco saw limited action—just 19 minutes against Jordan—and was involved in a heated moment with England’s Jude Bellingham after Argentina’s win. Despite the drama, he remains a key prospect for the Blues.

Chelsea’s summer haul also includes Morgan Rogers for £117 million from Aston Villa and Marco Palestra from Atalanta, with Xabi Alonso stepping in as the club’s new manager.
