Celtic Surge Past Hearts in Title Race as Momentum Shifts

Hearts have led the Scottish Premiership since October, holding a slender one-point advantage with just two matches remaining. Yet Celtic's remarkable turnaround has transformed the title race. Since losing to Dundee United in March, the champions have won six consecutive matches in all competitions, gradually erasing Hearts' once-comfortable lead.

The statistics strongly favour Celtic. O'Neill's side have won all four home games since February, scoring ten goals while conceding just three. Hearts remain unbeaten in six, but they've needed dramatic comebacks in their last five matches, dropping points at Livingston and Motherwell that have handed Celtic their chance.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Pat Bonner believes Celtic have "got a nice momentum going" into the final two games. Pat Nevin points to the restored harmony between fans and board, calling it "immense," while suggesting Hearts boss Derek McInnes "must be getting worried about the amount of injuries" to key players like Craig Halkett and Marc Leonard.

Captain Callum McGregor declared "it's in our hands" after Sunday's derby win. Celtic must defeat Motherwell on Wednesday while Hearts host Falkirk. Should results go their way, the 1986 collapse—when Albert Kidd's goals handed Celtic the title—will haunt Hearts fans once more.
