Cardiff City Appeals Dismissed £104m Sala Claim

Cardiff City will appeal a French court's dismissal of its £104m compensation claim following Emiliano Sala's death. The Welsh club sought over 120m euros for lost income, arguing Sala could have kept them in the Premier League.

The Nantes commercial court rejected the claim and ordered Cardiff to pay approximately £400,000 in legal fees and moral damages to Nantes, payable immediately regardless of appeal.

Cardiff's legal team had a three-month window to decide on appealing to the Court of Appeal in Rennes. The club has now confirmed it lodged its intention before the deadline.

An appeal triggers a full retrial, re-examining the case entirely, with the process potentially taking up to two years.
