Highland League champions Brora Rangers travel to Edinburgh on Saturday for the decisive leg of their promotion play‑off against Edinburgh City. After a 1‑1 stalemate at Dudgeon Park, the Scottish Cup‑eligible side will need a win to secure a place in League Two. A successful result would elevate the village club to the national professional tier for the club.

Club director Mary Stewart, who grew up behind the Dudgeon Park ground, called the tie “history in the making”. Founded in 1879 and joining the Highland League in 1962, Brora have previously flirted with promotion in 2015. A victory would crown them the most northerly professional team in the United Kingdom, a point of pride for the 1,200‑strong community in the far north.

Long‑time supporter Struan Gunn broke a finger celebrating the opening goal in the first leg, yet remains optimistic that promotion would bring new revenue and a pathway for local youngsters. Residents expect a sizable travelling contingent to Edinburgh, hoping the win will ignite village pride. Should Brora overturn the tie, they will become the UK’s most northerly professional club in the short term.
