Bohemians 1905 launches fan‑run C team in Czech league

Prague side Bohemians 1905 announced a fan‑run C team that will enter the Czech ninth tier next season. Supporters were asked to email their interest, with the club promising joy of playing and the pride of wearing the kangaroo emblem on their chest. The initiative follows a revival after the 2005 bankruptcy. The venture aims to attract media attention and inspire similar projects across Europe.

Bohemians, known as Bohemka, trace the kangaroo badge to a 1927 Australian tour when two marsupials were gifted to the team. Honorary president Antonín Panenka, a 1976 European‑Champions final hero, fronts the club. The new side will not meet the first team in official cups, as only clubs in the four divisions qualify for the Czech Cup, preserving the historic identity.

Bohemians are currently crowdfunding a full rebuild of Dolní Čekárek stadium, projected at 350 million Czech Koruna (£12.4 m). The fan‑team experiment underscores how supporter financing keeps the club afloat and deepens community ties. By giving amateurs a formal league slot, Bohemians turn a symbolic gesture into a tangible expression of fan ownership.
