Wales manager Craig Bellamy has set his sights on maintaining Wales' place among Europe's elite after being drawn against Portugal, Denmark, and Norway in the Nations League. The Dragons return to League A after an unbeaten run under Bellamy secured promotion from League B in November 2024.

Bellamy described the draw as exciting but challenging, emphasizing that staying in League A would improve Wales' seeding for future tournaments. The campaign kicks off in September with four fixtures in a congested window, potentially following a 2026 World Cup appearance if Wales overcome Bosnia in their play-off semi-final on March 26. Portugal, managed by former Swansea City boss Roberto Martinez, present a stern test after eliminating Wales in the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

Norway, described by Martinez as "European football's form team," qualified flawlessly for the World Cup behind Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Bellamy acknowledged the quality of all three opponents, noting that competing in League A against the continent's top 16 teams provides valuable experience. With automatic qualification for major tournaments as the ultimate goal, Bellamy remains focused on the immediate challenge of beating Bosnia before turning attention to the Nations League campaign.
