Wales manager Craig Bellamy is in advanced talks with Burnley to replace departing coach Scott Parker. The Clarets have formally approached the Football Association of Wales, and negotiations have accelerated over the past 48 hours. Bellamy previously served as Kompany’s assistant at Turf Moor and briefly acted as head coach before leaving for Bayern. Sources say he is the frontrunner, though no contract has been signed yet.

Bellamy took the Wales job in 2024 and oversaw a narrow miss at the 2026 World Cup, bowing out to Bosnia on penalties. His deal runs to 2028, covering the Euro 2028 tournament across the British Isles. Burnley reportedly agree to meet the compensation clause in his FAW contract, making a move financially viable. He admits ambition drives him, yet feels the timing isn’t right.

Should Bellamy depart, Wales face a swift search; former England U21 boss Steve Cooper and ex‑Wolves manager Rob Edwards have emerged as leading candidates. Cooper is currently unemployed after leaving Brøndby, while Edwards was dismissed by Wolves earlier this season. Bellamy’s decision will dictate the managerial landscape for both the national side and Burnley this summer. Burnley will count on his experience.
