Belgium manager Rudi Garcia will depart after the Royal Belgian FA decided not to extend his contract. The 62‑year‑old took over in January 2025, replacing Domenico Tedesco, and led the Red Devils to the quarter‑finals of the 2026 World Cup, falling 2‑1 to eventual champions Spain. Garcia praised for restoring team cohesion, he guided Belgium to a 4‑1 win over United States and a dramatic 3‑2 comeback against Senegal in the round of 32, though they managed only one group‑stage victory.

The federation’s sports director, Vincent Mannaert, thanked Garcia and his assistants for 18 months of commitment and experience. He noted the challenging sporting and financial context in which Garcia was appointed. Garcia’s previous roles at Marseille, Roma, Lyon and Napoli never exceeded two years.

With his contract ending in July, the Belgian FA is now preparing for a new cycle and the appointment of a new national coach.
