BBC Sport has confirmed Football Focus will end after 52 years on air. The Saturday lunchtime show, launched in 1974, provided interviews and analysis before weekend fixtures. Changing audience habits with digital platforms have led to declining linear TV viewing figures since 2018. The program will continue until the end of the current season.

Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC Sport director, called Football Focus "hugely important" in BBC Sport's history. From next season, The Football Interview moves to BBC One at 12:45 BST, while Final Score starts earlier at 15:45 BST. The network plans to expand its digital output across platforms including YouTube to deliver more football coverage at scale.

Alex Scott, who has presented Football Focus for five years, will be its final host and continue working for BBC. Scott remains a key figure in BBC's sports output. The program began as part of Grandstand with Sam Leitch presenting a precursor called Football Preview before being renamed with Bob Wilson as an iconic figure who stayed in the role for 20 years.
