Alexandre Pato Consortium Eyes Colchester United Takeover

Former AC Milan and Brazil forward Alexandre Pato is part of a consortium interested in buying Colchester United. The League Two club confirmed the 36-year-old attended Saturday's match as a guest of owner Robbie Cowling. A deal is "possible," but no announcement is imminent.

The sale process reopened last September after previous talks with Lightwell Sports Group collapsed. Cowling stated he has no timeline for the sale, emphasizing he must find the right buyer to take the club forward. American consultant Mitchell B Reiss is overseeing the takeover process.

Colchester's on-field performance adds context. Under boss Danny Cowley, the team is unbeaten in six games and sits eighth, three points from the play-offs. They aim for a return to the third tier, a division they left in 2016, making the club an attractive investment.
