Forward Alessia Russo has been named England women's player of the year for the second time. The 27-year-old Arsenal star was a key figure in the 2025-26 campaign, appearing in all 10 matches and scoring five goals. She recently netted the third goal in England's 3-1 victory over Greece in the first leg of the 2027 World Cup play-off semi-final.
Russo edged out Chelsea's Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton to win the fan-voted award. "To receive the award is really special, particularly as it comes directly from the fans. I am so grateful for their support," Russo said, also thanking her teammates for their collective effort. England will host Greece in the second leg at Leicester's King Power Stadium on Tuesday.
