The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in June and July next year, Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe announced. The tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, faces infrastructure concerns but Motsepe dismissed reports of delays as "totally unfounded."

Doubts have emerged about whether the three East African nations can complete necessary preparations in time. Kenya's organizing committee chair Nicholas Musonye suggested postponing to 2028 "would be good for Kenya" due to upcoming general elections. Motsepe expressed confidence in the hosts' abilities, calling the event "enormously successful" despite acknowledging challenges.

Caf committed to mid-year hosting from 2019, but recent tournaments have been played during the European club season, creating player release disputes. The 2027 edition will be the last biennial tournament before switching to a four-year cycle from 2028. The precise dates will be announced later. Motsepe also confirmed Morocco remains the designated host for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, rejecting calls to change the March dates due to World Cup qualifying implications.
