Aberdeen have kicked off their summer restructuring with three new arrivals, capturing Lewis Mayo and Brad Lyons from Kilmarnock plus Austrian midfielder Alexander Briedl. The Dons acted quickly to strengthen their ranks ahead of the new campaign, with manager Stephen Robinson targeting immediate reinforcements for his squad.

Mayo, 26, has committed to a three-year deal while Lyons, 29, and Briedl both signed two-year contracts. These moves come shortly after captain Graeme Shinnie's exit, with the 34-year-old returning to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Robinson's first summer acquisitions address the leadership void left by Shinnie's departure.

The manager praised Briedl for possessing "many of the qualities" he seeks in midfield, highlighting his suitability for Scottish Premiership football. Lyons brings "real competitive edge and strong leadership qualities" according to Robinson, while Mayo has been a player the club has "admired for some time" due to his consistency and professionalism.

These signings signal Aberdeen's intent to compete following a transitional period. The blend of domestic experience and European talent should provide Robinson with options across defence and midfield as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the top flight.
