Anthropic Eyes $30B Raise, Valuation Tops $900B

Anthropic is in early talks to raise at least $30 billion at a valuation over $900 billion, Bloomberg says. The deal is still unfinalised, and no term sheet has signed. Negotiations follow a wave of inbound offers, with existing backers invited to join the new round.

If completed, the valuation would push Anthropic ahead of OpenAI, which closed at $852 billion last March. The move reflects the surge of capital flowing into lead AI model builders. For late‑stage investors, the round signals a concentrated chase for a handful of frontier firms at prices once unimaginable.

Google and Amazon have each committed $10 billion and $5 billion respectively at a $350 billion valuation, with further funds earmarked for milestones. Whether the tech giants will back the new round remains unclear, but their prior investments underline the strategic importance of Anthropic’s Claude models for enterprise workloads.

The funding would finance long‑term GPU and data‑centre commitments needed to scale Claude’s usage. Bloomberg has also reported that Anthropic may go public as early as October, suggesting the round could be the final private injection before an IPO. At a $900 billion tag, the company would rank among the most valuable private firms ever.
