Wrexham Held 1-1 by Cardiff in Championship Opener

Phil Parkinson complained about referee Andrew Kitchen adding six minutes of stoppage time after Rubin Colwill's last-gasp free kick earned Cardiff a dramatic 1-1 Championship draw. Parkinson insisted there should have been no more than four minutes added as his side resolutely defended Kieffer Moore's early third-minute strike — his seventh goal against his former club.

Wrexham had chances to kill the game, with Callum Doyle hitting the post and goalkeeper Nathan Trott denying Danny Imray and Sam Smith. "We should have been out of sight really," said Parkinson, who felt his team handled the hostile atmosphere with calmness despite the late concession.

Brian Barry-Murphy celebrated substitute Colwill's equaliser with a Jose Mourinho-style touchline dash, earning a yellow card. Barry-Murphy admitted Colwill had only trained for two days but felt the game needed "something different." The result marks a disappointing start to Wrexham's second Championship season after successive promotions, following a Carabao Cup exit to Middlesbrough on Aug. 7.
