Wild boars hit Oviedo training pitch again

Real Oviedo were relegated from La Liga last season and their preparations to bounce back have been interrupted by wild boars at their training ground. The animals broke into the club's facility on two separate nights, damaging the playing surfaces of two of the four pitches. The first damage was discovered early Tuesday, and 24 hours later the boars struck again, further ruining the grass on the same pitch and also attacking a pitch used by Oviedo's women's and reserve teams. The pitches typically used by the first team were left untouched.

The El Requexón training facility sits in a rural area near the Nora River, where wild animals roam freely. Oviedo are planning a move to a new training centre, and cost‑cutting measures at El Requexón have meant that damaged areas are no longer being repaired. The club finished bottom of Spain's top division with just six wins all season.

Oviedo begins its new campaign on Saturday against Leganés, hoping to return to La Liga.
