The International Data Corporation (IDC) reported that global PC shipments fell to 62.7 million units in Q3 2026, marking a 20.1% year-over-year decline from Q3 2025 and a 9.1% drop from Q2 2026. IDC attributed the decline to ongoing supply issues and elevated prices, which continue to suppress consumer demand. Jitesh Ubrani, IDC's research director for consumer devices, noted that retailers are cautious about inventory due to high pricing, which may lead to short-term promotions.
However, prices are expected to remain elevated for the foreseeable future. With macroeconomic conditions worsening, the outlook for the next few quarters may deteriorate further. Consumers are advised to take advantage of any available deals or delay purchases until prices stabilize, potentially in another year.
