Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann has revealed he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer, last December. The 46-year-old Northern Irishman said he was told he had only five to six weeks to live at the time of diagnosis. McCann shared his experience during an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield, describing the pressure of receiving the news while at the training ground.

He emphasized that his current focus is on being well for himself and his family, and approaching his role with a smile. Despite the health scare, McCann confirmed he is now "ok now" and continues in his second stint as Doncaster Rovers manager. He previously had managerial spells at Peterborough and Hull City, and led Doncaster to promotion from League Two in the 2024-25 season.

Rovers have drawn three and lost two of their first five League One games this campaign.
