Formula 1 supplier Pirelli has given insight into the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang. Unable to run in April due to the Iran war, Bahrain agreed with the FIA, F1 and Malaysia for Sepang to host. The arrangement represents a substantial challenge as F1 hasn't visited Kuala Lumpur since 2017.

Pirelli Motorsport director Dario Marrafuschi noted the last race in Malaysia was 2017, the first year with wider tyres. He'll base decisions on 2017 results when Pirelli picked medium, soft and supersoft compounds (equivalent to C2-C3-C4 in C1-to-C5 range). No time for personnel to analyze; tyres must be air-freighted.

Marrafuschi acknowledged calendar volatility headaches but emphasized flexible scenarios. Pirelli needs seven weeks' notice for European races, amid rumors of season finale at Imola if Qatar and Abu Dhabi cancelled. December temperatures there 0C-8C, but Barcelona testing provides reference.

"Not ideal, but safe... not scary. We are not worried about that," Marrafuschi said.
