Pirelli's Head of Motorsport, Dario Marrafuschi, discussed the evolving tyre dynamics in Formula 1, noting how teams and drivers are adapting to new technical regulations that began in 2026. He revealed that the tyre range will continue with five revised compounds, omitting a C6, to encourage broader race strategies.

Pirelli's commitment to F1 has been extended through 2028, a testament to their long-standing partnership since 2011. Marrafuschi highlighted the trust built with stakeholders like Formula One Management and the FIA. Regarding the future, Pirelli remains open to continuing their global and technical partnership beyond 2028 if F1 expresses interest.

Recent races in Canada and Monaco saw quicker lap times than anticipated due to a combination of track conditions and the cars' latest aerodynamic packages. Marrafuschi explained that these 'marginal gains' can lead to unexpected performance. He also addressed the challenge of bringing tyres up to temperature on low-energy circuits, particularly the front tyres, a factor influenced by reduced downforce and active aerodynamics in the current car designs. The open wheel rim regulations have become a significant performance lever, with teams innovating designs to manage heat exchange and tyre operating pressures.
