McLaren Double DNS at Chinese GP

McLaren suffered a disastrous double DNS at the Chinese Grand Prix when both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were sidelined by electrical power unit issues before the race even began. Norris, the reigning world champion, failed to leave the garage entirely, while Piastri was wheeled back from the grid after experiencing what he described as "an electrical issue on the power unit."

Norris revealed he discovered the problem about 20 minutes before he was scheduled to leave the garage, marking his first non-start in F1. "A shame. My first non-start in F1, which is sad. And even worse, that it's a double do-not-start with Oscar as well," he stated. Piastri, who also DNS in Australia last week, remained philosophical despite the frustration. "It's been a while since I've watched two grands prix on TV... unfortunately, these kinds of things happen in racing at times," he commented.

This rare double DNS marks only the second time in McLaren's history that both cars failed to start a race, with the previous occurrence coming at the 2005 United States Grand Prix. The team now faces significant pressure to resolve what appears to be systemic electrical problems with their new power units, especially with the upcoming races on the horizon where reliability will be crucial for championship aspirations.
