Leclerc Monaco Crash Costs Pole

Charles Leclerc crashed during Q3 qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix, ending his hopes of pole position. The Ferrari driver had set the provisional fastest time before losing control at Tabac corner. "I was very much on the edge," Leclerc explained, citing dirty air in Turn 12 that caused him to lose the rear and hit the wall, leaving him fourth on the grid.

The crash is unrelated to Leclerc's ongoing braking problems with Ferrari. The Monegasque driver revealed he's been "struggling massively" with the car's "extremely inconsistent" braking since the Canadian Grand Prix. "I'm definitely not knowing what I'm having," he lamented, explaining the inconsistency makes corner-to-corner behavior unpredictable.

This marks the first time since 2023 that Leclerc will not start his home Monaco race from the front row. Ferrari had shown promising pace during Friday practice, locking out the top two positions in both sessions. The team will need to resolve both Leclerc's braking issues and improve their Saturday qualifying performance to challenge for victory.
