Netflix's Drive to Survive will continue indefinitely as long as it delivers new fans to Formula 1, according to producers at Box to Box Films. The eighth season, released just before the 2025 campaign, maintains the documentary series' mission of converting casual viewers into avid F1 fans despite mixed reviews from diehard enthusiasts.

Tom Rogers, Box to Box's director of post-production, acknowledged that pleasing every hardcore fan is impossible. The series has attracted over 10 million viewers for Season 7, outperforming every other sports franchise on the platform. While critics point to editorial inconsistencies and context manipulation, Rogers admitted past mistakes like using incorrect footage of Max Verstappen but emphasized improved quality control measures.

The documentary's future appears secure as F1 continues expanding in North America. With Apple's F1 movie providing another growth lever, Rogers sees enormous potential in the U.S. market. The series has already transformed casual viewers into dedicated fans, and producers aren't planning an end date as long as the symbiotic relationship between Netflix, F1, and teams continues delivering results.
