Cadillac has officially revealed the name of its inaugural Formula 1 entry, the MAC-26, paying tribute to racing legend Mario Andretti. The American manufacturer will make its F1 debut in 2026 with this car, continuing Andretti's legacy in motorsports as the team prepares for its competitive entry into the pinnacle of single-seater racing.

The naming decision recognizes Andretti's significant contributions to the project's formation. The 85-year-old champion served as one of the original driving forces behind bringing the team to F1, though the project is now primarily led by TWG Motorsports CEO Dan Towriss, following an earlier period under his son Michael's direction.

Mario Andretti, who claimed both the Formula 1 world championship and Indy 500 victory during his illustrious career, has transitioned to a more advisory role with the team. The MAC-26 designation represents his enduring influence on American motorsport as Cadillac prepares to establish its presence on the global F1 grid.
