Chris Cheng of Shring Solutions has modded an M4 Mac mini into a compact cyberdeck, fitting the tiny computer into a vertical 3D-printed chassis with a 7-inch 120Hz touchscreen, backlit keyboard, and trackpad. The device runs entirely on batteries, claiming around six hours of non-stop video playback. A key feature includes integrated Nintendo Switch Joycon rails on the sides for mouse control and native handheld gaming.

Measuring roughly palm-sized, the mod maintains the original M4 Mac mini internals untouched, inserting the computer like a Game Boy cartridge into a custom case. Cheng describes the design as having a "fantastic upgrade path for future hardware," noting the open cartridge system could accommodate devices like a Raspberry Pi 5. While the mod showcases the versatility of the redesigned Mac mini, it remains a complex project not intended for mass production, as Cheng does not sell a kit.
