Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced that Microsoft has secured exclusive game streaming rights for Grand Theft Auto VI. This deal will allow only Xbox Cloud Gaming to stream the title at launch, targeting PC players who do not own an Xbox Series X|S or PS5 console. The announcement coincides with Microsoft's major changes to Xbox Cloud Gaming starting in November, the same month GTA VI releases.
Subscribers will face strict hourly limits: 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 for Premium, and only 5 for Essential tiers. Additionally, Microsoft is introducing a pay-as-you-go option next month, allowing non-subscribers to purchase bundles of hours to stream GTA VI. During the employee all-hands, Sharma also confirmed Project Helix, the next generation of Xbox hardware, will be a "family of devices" with partnerships from other manufacturers.
This strategy follows Microsoft's recent multi-year AMD partnership focused on a portfolio of next-generation devices.
