OpenAI announced its first media partnership in Brazil with Grupo Folha and Grupo UOL, bringing journalism from Folha de S.Paulo and UOL directly to ChatGPT. Starting today, 900 million weekly active ChatGPT users worldwide can access summaries based on these publishers' reporting, marking a significant expansion of trusted journalism into AI-powered experiences.

Brazil ranks among ChatGPT's largest global markets, with 50 million monthly active users exchanging roughly 140 million messages daily. This partnership reflects OpenAI's broader strategy of collaborating with news organizations across multiple markets, including the US, UK, France, and Germany, to integrate reliable reporting into conversational AI while maintaining proper attribution and source links.

The deal provides Grupo Folha and Grupo UOL access to Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise, and API tools to develop innovative reader products and streamline internal workflows. Both organizations see AI as defining the next era of journalism, with Folha's Co-CEO Carlos Ponce de Leon emphasizing the need to shape this transformation while expanding reach and impact.

UOL's CEO Paulo Samia notes that AI platforms naturally benefit from partnerships with high-quality content creators. The collaboration aims to make credible Brazilian journalism more discoverable while supporting the broader news ecosystem through technology that emphasizes transparency and original source attribution.
