OpenAI Codex Now in Mobile App for Remote Coding

OpenAI has integrated Codex into the ChatGPT mobile app, enabling developers to monitor and guide AI-assisted coding from any location. This allows for real-time check-ins on active threads, approvals, and project context across laptops, devboxes, or remote environments, keeping work moving without being tied to a desk.

A secure relay layer syncs session state and updates—including screenshots and terminal output—between trusted machines and mobile devices, avoiding direct internet exposure. Remote SSH is now generally available, letting Codex connect directly into managed enterprise environments, with support for HIPAA-compliant local use for eligible ChatGPT Enterprise workspaces.

Practically, this means starting a bug fix from a coffee line, making refactor decisions during a commute, or prepping for a customer call with synthesized updates—all from a phone. Programmatic access tokens and generally available Hooks further expand automation and customization for teams, making Codex a truly mobile coding partner.
