Since launching in September 2024, OpenAI Academy has helped people build AI skills through practical training for teaching, running small businesses, and developing software. Over two years, the Academy has hosted more than 250 events, and more than 4 million people have engaged with its content, bringing together educators, small business owners, developers, nonprofit leaders, and community members.

The Academy has grown to include self-paced courses, practical guides, in-person workshops, and multi-site events known as AI Skills Jams. This month, new learning paths were introduced for knowledge workers, developers, leaders, educators, and college students. Learners can earn Academy course badges by passing assessments.

Partners have been central to programming. An AI Skills Jam for K–12 Educators brought together more than 1,600 teachers, administrators, and district leaders across eight U.S. cities. OpenAI Academy is now piloting a Community Trainer Program, where participating organizations nominate staff to learn the curriculum and lead workshops in their communities.

Over time, the goal is for more people to have someone locally to turn to as AI tools evolve. OpenAI Academy will continue developing online courses, workshops, and Academy Jams informed by participant and partner feedback.
