The release introduces a redesigned, unified citation dialog that replaces previous versions, offering both List and Library modes for faster searching. It also brings annotations into the main items list for easier searching and management across your library.

Beyond the citation overhaul, Zotero 8 adds a new Appearance panel for reader themes, supporting built-in and custom color schemes for PDFs and web snapshots. Note tabs allow for distraction-free writing within the main window, and the tabs menu is now keyboard-optimized for quicker navigation. ARM64 Linux support is also new.

Continuous file renaming keeps attachment filenames synced with metadata changes automatically, a workflow improvement over previous manual steps. The update further refines attachment title logic and adds an option to show filenames in the list.
