Bor v0.8.0 is out, introducing significant updates for open-source policy management on Linux desktops. This release adds three new policy types: Thunderbird, Microsoft Edge for Business, and Firewalld zones. The agent manages these configurations, ensuring that settings are enforced across enrolled nodes, with specialized protection for Flatpak, RPM, and DEB installations.

In addition to new policy types, the update features a full web UI overhaul using Pattern Fly 6. This modernization includes a full-page policy editor, improved URL routing, and scalable lists with server-side pagination to support fleets with thousands of nodes. The interface now provides better safety rails, such as JSON validation and setting previews.

A dedicated security hardening pass was also implemented. Key improvements include stricter agent identity binding to mTLS client certificates and enhanced MFA/RBAC enforcement. The release also addresses various vulnerabilities and updates core dependencies, including React and gRPC, to ensure robust, scalable, and secure desktop management.
