Obsolete Sounds represents the world's largest collection of disappearing and extinct sounds, transformed through artistic reimagining. The project documents audio artifacts vanishing from our collective experience, from buzzing modems to the whir of VHS and cassette tapes. Artists recompose these endangered soundscapes, offering new perspectives on how we listen to a rapidly changing auditory world.

Conserve The Sound collaborated with the project, contributing archival recordings to preserve our sonic heritage. The collection spans urban, cultural, industrial and natural environments, capturing sounds already lost and those endangered. Sounds emerging just years ago are now disappearing faster than at any point in human history, making preservation increasingly urgent.

The project culminates in a free/pay-what-you-like album compiling highlights and their original recordings. Obsolete Sounds serves both as cultural documentation and artistic expression, creating a new form of listening experience. It draws attention to endangered soundscapes worth preserving before they vanish completely.
