Wine-Staging 11.1, an experimental fork of the Windows compatibility layer, is now available with 254 patches over upstream Wine. Its most notable additions target Adobe Photoshop installation and operation on Linux, addressing specific MSXML3 and MSHTML code errors that previously blocked the Creative Cloud 2019 installer.

The new patches resolve a long-standing issue documented in Bug 47015, where Photoshop's installer would fail on Linux systems. By fixing these core Windows API components, the update demonstrates Wine's ongoing effort to support complex professional software, not just games. This work is currently exclusive to the staging branch.

Upstream Wine developers have not yet merged these specific Photoshop fixes, meaning they're only available for community testing in Wine-Staging 11.1. If testing proves stable, the patches could be integrated into a future Wine 11.x bi-weekly release, further bridging the gap for Linux creative professionals.
