Swedish streaming data showed ‘Jag vet, du är inte min’—a folk‑pop ballad performed by the digital persona Jacub—rising to the top of Spotify’s Swedish Top 50 with over five million plays. When regulators discovered the track was generated largely by artificial intelligence, IFPI Sweden barred it from the official national chart.

Investigative journalist Emanuel Karlsten traced the song’s registration to Stellar Music, a Danish publishing firm whose AI unit helped craft the piece. The creators, calling themselves Team Jacub, argued the AI served only as a tool within a human‑led songwriting process, citing emotional input and financial investment as proof of artistic intent.

Sweden’s strict stance contrasts with Billboard, which permits AI‑generated tracks that meet sales and streaming thresholds, and Bandcamp, which outright bans substantial AI contributions. The dispute highlights a broader industry debate as AI‑driven music, projected to become a multibillion‑dollar market, forces regulators to redraw the line between human creativity and algorithmic output.
