Shimmer, a Y Combinator-backed startup, has launched Indy, an AI-powered app designed specifically for ADHD brains. Co-founder Chris developed it after his own adult ADHD diagnosis, aiming to solve the gap between knowing what to do and consistently executing. Indy focuses on structured planning, reflection, and self-awareness exercises, differentiating itself from generic productivity tools.

The app addresses the distinction between "cool" executive function (future planning) and "hot" executive function (in-the-moment emotions). Most tools only tackle the latter. Indy uses guided future mapping, daily check-ins, and longitudinal insights to help users track patterns and overcome blocks. It's built on insights from 80,000+ ADHD coaching sessions.

Shimmer positions Indy as a more affordable alternative to continuous human coaching, using AI for personalization without collapsing into generic advice. The app is free to try and aims to help users build trust in themselves by tracking effort and small wins, not just outcomes.
