Samsung is implementing a controversial AI data consent toggle within its Health app. Users must agree to allow Samsung to use their private health data for AI training and modeling, or risk losing their data. If the toggle is switched off, the app warns that users will be unable to sync health data with their Samsung account, and their data will be deleted unless legally required for retention.

Samsung states the collected data, including sleep patterns, medications, medical records, and cycle tracking, will be used to "improve Samsung Health" through refined machine learning algorithms. The company also indicated that humans, potentially Samsung employees and third-party contractors, may review some of this data. This development follows a recent Generative AI overhaul of the Samsung Health app, introducing features like Vitals, which analyzes overnight biometric signals, and a Heart Health Score.
