To commemorate Quake's 30th Anniversary, id Software and Machine Games have launched a new episode, "Dawn of the Machine," available as a free update for all Quake owners. This episode features 19 new maps, a fresh soundtrack, new enemy variants like the Rocket Ogre, and weapon upgrades such as the Super Axe and Laser Cannon.

"Dawn of the Machine" introduces a unique looping structure where each playthrough alters the experience, with persistent upgrades and newly accessible paths. Players will navigate shifting dimensions, face unpredictable enemy behaviors, and solve puzzles. The update also includes a new Cheats menu, an id Vault for development assets, and three new achievements.

Alongside new content, the update provides various fixes across all platforms, including improved interpolation for reduced input latency and enhanced performance. The episode is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC (Microsoft Store, Game Pass, Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Notably, it is not yet available on the Epic Games Store or GOG versions.
