OpenAI has launched Health in Chat GPT for U.S. users. The feature lets you securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records so the AI can contextualize your data. You control what is shared and when it is used.

Each week, 300 million people ask health questions on Chat GPT, but relevant information is scattered across portals, apps, and wearables. With permission, the model can pull connected data to compare new results with past tests, summarize changes since the last visit, or link sleep and activity to routines. This reduces repeated data entry, helps ask better questions, and supports rather than replaces professional care.

OpenAI continues to refine the underlying models. GPT‑5.5 Instant improves recognitions of urgent care needs, while GPT‑5.6 Sol delivers stronger reasoning on complex questions. Physicians evaluated the models, showing consistent performance gains across accuracy, safety, and communication.

Privacy is built in: all conversations are encrypted, and connected records are not used to train foundation models or target ads. Users can toggle permissions in Settings > Plugins > Health, or disconnect accounts anytime. The rollout starts today for logged‑in users 18+ in the U.S. on web and iOS across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans.
