OpenAI has launched the OpenAI Deployment Company, a new business unit focused on embedding specialized Forward Deployed Engineers directly into organizations working on complex AI implementations. These engineers will work alongside business leaders to identify high-impact AI opportunities, redesign organizational infrastructure around AI capabilities, and transform those gains into durable production systems.

The launch includes the acquisition of Tomoro, an applied AI consulting firm that helps enterprises like Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, and Supercell operationalize AI. The deal brings approximately 150 experienced engineers to the new company. The OpenAI Deployment Company is launching with over $4 billion of initial investment capital to scale operations and acquire additional firms.

The venture involves a partnership with 19 leading investment firms and consultancies, including TPG as lead partner alongside Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield. Consulting partners include Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey. OpenAI retains majority ownership and control, ensuring customers receive a unified experience whether working with OpenAI directly or through the new deployment unit.

The move addresses a core challenge in enterprise AI: turning powerful models into reliable, day-to-day operational systems that deliver measurable business impact.
