Mistral AI is acquiring Emmi AI, an Austrian startup that builds Physics AI models for industrial engineering. The deal brings Emmi's team of 30+ researchers and engineers into Mistral's Science and Applied AI groups. Emmi specializes in accelerating simulations across energy, automotive, semiconductors, and aerospace — sectors where traditional methods hit hard limits at scale.

Emmi raised EUR 15M in seed funding last April from investors including 3VC, Speedinvest, Serena, and PUSH. The startup's technical work is substantial: its AB-UPT architecture scales neural surrogates for CFD to 100 million mesh cells while keeping physics-consistent predictions, and its NeuralDEM tool for particulate flow simulation is now open source.

Linz becomes an official Mistral office, joining Paris, London, Amsterdam, Munich, San Francisco, and Singapore. The acquisition gives Mistral an end-to-end AI stack for industrial R&D, letting manufacturers replace days-long simulations with real-time digital twins backed by physics-grounded models.
