Kansai Airport has achieved a remarkable milestone, maintaining a perfect record of zero lost baggage incidents since its opening in 1994. The Osaka airport has been recognized as the 'World's Best Airport for Baggage Delivery' by the World Airport Awards 2024, an international evaluation conducted by a U.K.-based aviation rating organization.

This marks the eighth time Kansai Airport has received this prestigious award, highlighting its exceptional baggage handling capabilities. During peak periods, the airport processes up to 30,000 pieces of checked baggage daily, utilizing a combination of sensor monitoring and manual patrols to ensure bags are properly tracked and handled. The airport's meticulous approach includes ground staff manually aligning suitcase handles before they appear on conveyor belts, a detail that impressed a 35-year-old passenger from Tanzania who visited in early December.

Despite facing staffing shortages ahead of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, which is expected to increase passenger traffic, airport officials are committed to maintaining their high standards. A Kansai Airport representative stated they plan to 'improve efficiency by upgrading our systems' to meet future demands while preserving their perfect baggage handling record.
