Human Rights Watch (HRW) reports 1,250 people were killed in Haiti by drone strikes between March 2025 and January 2026, including 17 children, with no clear links to criminal groups. The attacks, carried out by Haitian security forces and private contractors from Vectus Global – a firm founded by Erik Prince – targeted densely populated areas like Port-au-Prince. HRW alleges many victims were civilians, potentially constituting extrajudicial killings.

The strikes injured at least 738 people, with 49 having no gang ties. Neither Haitian authorities nor Vectus responded to the report. HRW urges immediate action to halt the operations, stating authorities must take control of both security forces and private companies before more children die.

The $52 million contract funding the drone campaign faces mounting criticism, as residents live in constant fear and the UN recorded nearly double the strikes in the capital city's final months.
