FreeDNS offers free and premium DNS hosting including Dynamic DNS services. The platform allows users to update their IP addresses dynamically, demonstrated via curl commands using the v2 interface. Users can update both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses through simple terminal commands.
The service hosts 23,236 domains in a shared registry and supports 7.1 million members. Dynamic DNS enables accessing computers by name rather than numeric IP addresses, useful for home, work, school, or cloud environments. The system provides free subdomain hosting, domain hosting, and backup DNS services.
Premium features include URL redirection and reverse IPv6 DNS hosting. The platform maintains 13.8 million records across 1.2 million zones. Users can control domain traffic in real-time for WAN, LAN, and other network environments.
Free DNS hosting and Dynamic DNS updates are available through an automated update interface with guides for various router configurations.
