Googlebook laptop pairs Gemini AI with lightweight design

Google is gearing up to launch a new laptop line called Googlebook, built around its Gemini AI engine. The devices promise a “featherweight design with heavyweight power,” letting users invoke Gemini via a Magic Pointer to ask questions, compare data, or generate content on the fly. Early screenshots show a custom widget creator that builds tools from plain language prompts today.

Key features include “Cast My Apps,” which streams phone applications to the laptop without installing them, and “Quick Access,” a file sync that makes mobile documents appear as native files on the machine. Googlebook also supports a “Create My Widget” command, turning natural‑language requests into functional UI components, a move that could blur the line between development and end‑user interaction.

The lineup is slated for a Fall 2026 release, with pre‑order notifications already live on Google’s site. By embedding Gemini directly into the hardware, Google aims to differentiate its laptops from competitors that rely on cloud‑only AI. If the integration works as advertised, developers could prototype extensions instantly, while everyday users gain a conversational interface for routine tasks.
