Ford Motor Co. has abandoned its Brazilian operations after burning through roughly $12 billion over the past decade, a staggering loss that underscores the immense challenges automakers face in the country. The automaker announced plant closures in January, affecting over 5,000 workers and nearly 300 dealerships. Previously unreported corporate filings reveal the scale of the financial woes, showing Ford lost about $2,000 per car sold in the past eight years.
