Cape Launches Privacy-Focused Cell Service with $30 Trial

Cape has launched a privacy-focused cell service that promises to protect users from telco surveillance and tracking. The service offers a first-month trial for just $30 and includes features like disappearing call logs, IMSI rotation, and encrypted voicemail. Built from the ground up with privacy as the core principle, Cape minimizes data collection and tracks less.

Unlike traditional carriers, Cape destroys call and text metadata after just one day rather than storing it for years. The service partners with Proton to offer subscribers access to Proton Unlimited or Proton VPN Plus, and donates the first month's subscription to the GrapheneOS project for users of that privacy-focused Android OS. Cape also provides research support to the EFF in their work defending digital privacy.

For $99 per month, subscribers get unlimited talk, text, and 5G/4G data with premium security features including SIM swap protection, network lock against SS7 attacks, and secure global roaming in 50+ countries. The service routes traffic through a secure US-based core while maintaining nationwide coverage. Users can sign up without providing personal information, download the app, and activate an eSIM in just two minutes. Privacy expert Nicole Perlroth endorses Cape as essential for anyone serious about telco security.
