AI Content Surges on Social Media, LinkedIn Leads

Pangram Labs' research reveals a significant influx of AI-generated content across social media platforms. Analyzing over a million posts using their Pangram 3.3 AI detection model, the study found that one in four longform posts (over 250 words) were fully AI-generated. LinkedIn emerged as the most saturated platform, accounting for nearly two-thirds of all flagged AI content, with over 40% of its longform posts being AI-generated.

X/Twitter followed closely, with nearly half of its articles showing signs of AI writing, either fully generated or mixed with human input. While Reddit had the highest scan volume, its AI content rate was low, largely due to human-authored replies comprising most of its content. Substack, surprisingly, showed a flatter AI generation rate regardless of post length.

The findings suggest AI content is disproportionately affecting longer-form posts across platforms. Pangram Labs' Chrome extension, which users can opt-in to share scan data, aims to provide transparency and allow users to make informed decisions about their attention. The company's research-first approach and industry-leading detection algorithms offer a direct view into the prevalence of AI writing online.
