Anthropic surveyed 80,508 Claude.ai users across 159 countries about their hopes and fears regarding AI technology. Using Anthropic Interviewer, a conversational AI tool, participants shared their visions for how AI could improve their lives. This represents the largest multilingual qualitative study ever conducted on AI user perspectives.

Participants articulated diverse aspirations, with 19% seeking professional excellence through AI handling routine tasks. Healthcare workers reported reduced documentation burdens, while entrepreneurs envisioned AI as a business-building partner. Others sought personal growth, financial independence, or solutions to societal challenges like climate change and disease.

Rather than abstract fears about AI risks, users expressed concrete desires: more family time, creative expression, and learning opportunities. Many described AI as an equalizer, particularly for those in economically disadvantaged regions. The study reveals that users view AI not as a replacement but as a tool for enhancing human capabilities and reclaiming time for meaningful activities.
