NVIDIA, known for GPUs, is also the world's largest publisher of open AI models, with offerings spanning reasoning, world models, robotics, and scientific applications. Bryan Catanzaro, VP of Applied Deep Learning Research, explained NVIDIA's approach to developing these diverse and powerful models.

NVIDIA's open models are categorized by their function. Reasoning models, like the Nemotron family, are designed for tasks involving logic, math, and coding. World models, such as Cosmos, focus on understanding and simulating the physical world, enabling realistic video generation and predicting physical states. This is crucial for AI in robotics and autonomous vehicles.

For humanoid robots, NVIDIA developed the Isaac GR00T foundation model, which uses Cosmos for perception and reasoning, allowing for human-like decision-making. Other models include Alpamayo for self-driving cars, BioNeMo for life sciences, Ising for quantum computing, and Earth-2 for weather and climate forecasting. NVIDIA also provides safety, speech, and vision models for production use.

NVIDIA prioritizes both capability and speed in its model design. The strategy is that a faster model can be trained on more data and think longer on complex problems, thereby increasing its overall capability. This focus on efficiency and speed is achieved through architectural choices, aiming to make AI applications more accessible and advanced.
