MLB Player Movement & Injury Updates
The Miami Marlins confirmed roster adjustments after placing outfielder Griffin Conine on the 10-day injured list due to a tear in his left hamstring, signaling a setback for the club's outfield depth. Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox responded to fan enthusiasm by announcing they will distribute pope-themed hats to every attendee at their August 11 contest after the initial giveaway proved immensely popular. In personnel transactions, the New York Yankees designated pitcher Cade Winquest for assignment without ever having him appear in a major league game, concluding his brief tenure with the organization.
Roster Diversity & Returns
Major League Baseball reported on Friday that the percentage of Black players on Opening Day rosters has increased for the second consecutive year, marking the first such sustained growth in over two decades, according to league data. On the field, the Chicago Cubs activated outfielder Seiya Suzuki from the injured list, slotting him directly into the lineup for the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates following his recovery from a preseason sprained knee.
